Kao Science Award
The Kao Science Award aims to promote basic and fundamental research in the fields of chemistry/physics and medicine/biology within the realm of surface science. It also seeks to contribute to the development of young researchers. In 2023, the selection committee of the Kao Foundation selected researchers aged 45 or younger in the fields of chemistry/physics and medicine/biology who have achieved original results through their own independent research at national, public, or private universities or research centers in Japan under the theme of “Surface Science.”
About the Kao Foundation for Arts and Sciences
The Kao Foundation for Arts and Sciences was established on October 8, 1990, as the Kao Foundation for Arts and Culture to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kao Corporation. The foundation primarily provides grants in the fields of art and music. In October 2010, it was authorized as a public interest organization under the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation System Reform, and its name was changed to the Kao Foundation for Arts and Sciences.
